Lady Eagles drop last regular season game to No. 1 ranked Gannon

The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (7-18, 2-12 PSAC West) lost their final regular season game on the road to No. 1 ranked Gannon University (30-0, 14-0 PSAC West) on Saturday 78-52.

Sophomore Peaches Nesmith had her usual solid performance putting up a double-double with 12 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.

Sophomore guard Heather McHugh and freshman forward Kristen Kudrick both put up nine points for The Haven. Both had an assist, while Kudrick had five rebounds and McHugh had two.

Senior Casi Donelan was right behind them with eight points, two rebounds and a team-high three assists.

On the Gannon side, forward Brittany Tabron led the way with a game-high 16 points and 17 rebounds. Forward Kim Vargas also contributed to the win with 13 points and six rebounds.

The Lady Eagles shot 18-for-63 compared to Gannon's 32-for-67. LHU didn't play as well defensively either, not having any blocks while Gannon had five.

The Haven also fell to division team Clarion University last Wednesday 73-67.

Nesmith once again lit up the court for Lock Haven with 16 points and 13 rebounds.

Donelan, freshman Kacie Hershey and Jaime Donovan all put 12 points on the board. Donovan's 12 all came from three-pointers while Hershey also had an impressive 11 rebounds. Kudrick also had a commendable performance with 10 points, seven rebounds and two blocks.

Clarion's Bethany Koch put up an impressive game-high 28 points. Lizzie Suwala had 18 points along with three rebounds and an assist.

LHU shot 22-for-65, not far behind Clarion's 25-56. The Haven although did put up for three-pointers shooting 9-22 behind the line compared to CU's 5-12.

The Lay Eagles end their season with a 7-18 record, and 2-12 in the Western division.
