Ireland has music mostly of the folk and Celtic genres. Vocalist and composer Enya is the voice of New Age music. Her expression is the sound of purity and beauty as its gentleness helps to "sail away" the troubles of the listeners' day. The hits of her career consist of "Orinoco Flow," "China Roses," and "Storms of Africa" as well as many other extraordinary melodies. After U2, she is the highest grossing act from Ireland followed by Van Morrison, The Cranberries, and The Corrs.

When discussing the rock bands of England, for a majority of the world, only one name ever comes to mind-The Beatles. Forming in Liverpool, England in 1960, they became the biggest group in the history of music. John Lennon, Ringo Star, George Harrison, and Paul McCartney together performed mostly in clubs until scoring it big with their 1962 first single "Love Me Do."

From there on out, their fame continued to blossom with more hits like "Yellow Submarine" and "Let it be." The Beatles have been named one of the top "100 Most Important and Influential People of the 20th Century." Today their music is still heard everywhere in all following generations. Paul McCartney has even stated in an interview on the popular daytime talk show "The View," that he believes his fans know the words of the group's songs better than he does. Although the planet has tragically lost John Lennon and George Harrison, all the members of The Beatles are legends that forever left a legacy in the music industry.

Music heard in various parts of the world can inspire and create emotion and have meaning to everyone that listens. If you have a little free time, explore the world with your ears and enjoy it!
