State Rep. Mike Hanna, D-Lock Haven, and State Sen. John Wozniak, D-Johnstown, will co-host their second annual Green Energy Fair on Sunday, October 25, 2009 at the Central Mountain Middle School gymnasium. The event will run from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. and will be free and open to the public.
The intent of the Green Energy Fair is to provide area residents with practical information and ideas for improving energy efficiency and reducing their energy costs. The Fair will showcase alternative and renewable energy resources, as well as sound conservation and environmentally friendly products and practices. Exhibitors will include companies and organizations such as energy and heating efficiency experts, home improvement and supply firms, utility companies, recycling specialists, and conservation organizations.
About 30 different exhibitors are so far signed up to participate in the Green Energy Fair. A key highlight to this year's event will be the opportunity for people to win green-related products and services being offered by exhibitors. One company, MHP Energy Audits of Bellefonte is offering a free home energy audit. Energy Professionals Insulation of Lock Haven will offer the chance to win a home energy assessment. Bechdel's Plumbing and Heating of Beech Creek is offering a cleaning service for a home central heating system. Another exhibitor, the Penn State Master Gardener's of Clinton County, will offer the chance to win a compost bin. The Son's Power of Lewisburg will have drawings to win kitchen composters and a solar backpack. The Small Business Development Center at Lock Haven University is also promoting the chance for a small business to obtain an energy audit.
"These are a few examples of the products and services area businesses and organizations have to offer, and we're gathering those groups altogether at the Green Energy Fair so that people can come ask questions and receive some helpful information," said Sen. Wozniak.
"There will also be several educational seminars," added Rep. Hanna. "Exhibitors will be passing along valuable tips and information people can put to good use in their homes and businesses."
As an example, PPL's e-power Team will conduct a seminar on how to access the home energy analyzer on PPL's web site. The home energy analyzer gives consumers an up-to-date analysis of their electrical use. AFC First and the Keystone Help Program, which oversees the state's energy loan programs, will conduct a seminar on loans available for the purchase of different Energy Star products as well as what's available financially for home improvement projects.
Businesses and organizations interested in participating in the Green Energy Fair are asked to contact Rep. Hanna's Lock Haven District Office at 748-5480 or Sen. Wozniak's local office at 748-1383 for more information.
Both Hanna and Wozniak invite all area residents to attend the Green Energy Fair.
