John Swartz will be releasing a free online version of his book, "JobQuest-Take Control of the Job Search and Win the Attention of Employers," for the growing number of job-seekers and unemployed.
As a result of the current economic situation, Swartz is increasing the availability of his book for free
Originally $19.95, the book can now be found and downloaded at www.FreeJobSearchBook.com.
The book offers search techniques for jobseekers, graduates, skilled professionals and the retired.
According to Swartz, whether you are new to the job search or starting over after a layoff, it starts with how you think and your attitude toward it.
Perseverance will win every time. Be determined to find a job.
The average search can last anywhere between three and nine months.
"Understand right now that finding the right kind of career opportunity for you will be a journey," wrote Swartz.
Swartz also stressed that it is important to forget about the defeats you have had in the past and look forward to new possibilities in your future.
When an employer turns you away, don't give up.
"Rejection, lack of motivation and impatience will eventually take its toll on you," said Swartz. Don't avoid these feelings when they can help you strive to do better next time.
Be ready to take control.
"Beginning right now, think of yourself as someone who is in charge. Someone who leads, manages and inspires," said Swartz.
According to Swartz, visualize yourself as a CEO, someone who calls the shots and makes strategic decisions.
The right mindset is essential to a successful job search.
Another successful technique is creating a personal mission statement.
Following the exact format as a business mission statement, your personal statement will have the same concept.
"Don't let distractions such as money and perks put you off course from what you want to accomplish professionally long term," said Swartz.
This will act as the foundation and guideline to all employment opportunities in your future.
Also included are networking strategies, résumé and cover letter suggestions and interviewing tips.
