I read an article about a study by the group UMADD saying students are just starting to drink this much this fast, give me a break! So fraternities just started partying hard in the last decade, yeah try again.
Many kids go home on the weekends because there is nothing real exciting going on during the weekends. The lack of parties would not be a big deal, if there were alternate activities in town and on campus to participate in.
Let's be honest, Lock Haven is not the most fun and hopping town on a Friday or Saturday night. If they want to crackdown on the partying and underage drinking then the city and university should work on getting students better alternatives to drinking.
I'm not saying that every freshman and sophomore who is underage goes out and parties and I know many people will say, "but it's illegal," and so on.
You know what? I really don't want to hear that, because let's face facts, part of the reason kids go to college is the parties. When kids get here and realize either one, there is not many parties, or two that the parties they go to get busted and then they talk to friends at other universities; LHU quickly begins to look flat out boring.
The experience of college is lessened and many students begin to wish they attended another university.
