Brent Frederick, a junior majoring in health and physical education who has been acting as vice president since the beginning of the semester, was officially confirmed for the position by student senate on Feb. 4.

The second appointed vice president for student government this academic year has been confirmed by the Student Senate on Feb. 4 due to the abdication of previous Vice President Andres Mendoza.
President Christopher Lunden, of the Student Cooperative Council, Inc. has now gone through two vice presidents during his tenure as president.
Previous vice presidents have resigned due to personal reasons. This confirmation has now given Lunden his third.
According to Policy 4 of the SCC constitution, Frederick was appointed and confirmed without having completed the required one term or two semesters for candidates seeking an elected position in the SCC.
However, his appointment is permitted because of the vacancy clause in the constitution.
A clause in Article 12, Section 2 of the constitution reads that "The president shall appoint a person with two-thirds approval of the Senate." This applies to vacancies only.
Current vice president Brent Frederick has been acting as such since the beginning of the semester, up until his confirmation.
Frederick served as an elected senator, but only for a short period, as per his confirmation to Student Athletics Liaison in fall 2008.
Frederick earned an associate's degree in general studies from Montgomery County Community College.
He decided to attend for reasons of offsetting costs for general education courses at a four-year college.
He left the community college to pursue a degree in health and physical education at LHU and is currently a junior.
He has held leadership positions at both institutions; his leadership skills are diverse.
Lunden holds that Frederick will bring dedication to the positions job requirements.
"It's Brent, I wanted him for his outgoing personality, someone who could get students involved in senate. He's already gotten things done as acting vice president. He's easy to approach along with and having a bubbly personality," said Lunden.
According to Frederick, his extracurricular experience is extensive.
