On Thursday the Lady Eagles overcame a halftime deficit to defeat Bloomsburg 16-13. LHU then cruised in their regular season finale with a 23-1 win at Slippery Rock Saturday afternoon.
Lock Haven (14-3, 12-2) wasted little time getting on the board Saturday when Kari Sielski scored just 73 seconds in the contest. LHU continued the early onslaught by building a 9-0 lead just ten minutes into the game.
Despite having the game under control the Lady Eagles continued to build their lead by stretching the score to 16-0 at the half. In the second half the Lady Eagles focused on protecting the net but still outscored The Rock 7-1 for their 12th conference win of the season.
"We played really well," said head coach Kristen Selvage. "We connected on the field and did a lot of things that were really important for us."
"It was an exciting game all game long because we were doing the things we wanted to do," Selvage continued. "We found different ways to set goals for ourselves and we were accomplishing those goals on the field."
Ten Lady Eagles scored on the day, led by Amber Hoch who recorded a game-high five goals. Jamie Uzialko added four tallies while Rachael Williams and Leigh Titus each recorded hat tricks.
Caitlyn Watts finished with two goals and three assists for a five point afternoon while Sielski finished with two goals and two assists. Elizabeth McAuliffe tied Watts with a team-high three assists and chipped in a goal.
The LHU defense was sharp all afternoon allowing only six shots on goal. Goalie Kira Nuttall stopped five of the six shots and held Slippery Rock scoreless until less than three minutes remained.
On Thursday Lock Haven withstood a strong effort from Bloomsburg to defeat the Huskies 16-13 on their home turf. Trailing 7-6 at the half, LHU heated up in the second stanza and outscored Bloomsburg 10-6 to secure the win.
"We certainly didn't play the game we wanted to play," explained Selvage. "Bloomsburg showed up and really wanted to take the game to us, but I think our game-smarts and talent outlasted them."
