What other mammal, besides humans, practice group sex? What country uses more condoms than any other? What cereal was introduced to decrease masturbation?
For the answers to these questions and a lot more on sexually related topics, there is only one place to go: Sex Squares.
The Residence Hall Association (RHA) is holding the annual sex program in Price Auditorium on April 3 at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30.
For anyone new to Lock Haven, Sex Squares is the campus-wide spring event held by RHA in order to increase sexual education and awareness, giving those who think they know it all when it comes to sex a chance to test their knowledge.
Wendy Walsh, RHA advisor, brought the idea to Lock Haven with her from SUNY Cortland, where they did Alcohol Squares.
The program has been running here since 1991, educating students on sex for almost 17 years.
For those who have not seen Sex Squares, let's review the format.
Sex Squares borrows the game show atmosphere from the popular T.V. game show, Hollywood Squares. Only in Lock Haven the celebrity squares are faculty and staff.
Students become involved as each residence hall is allowed to have a team of five members, pitting hall against hall to see which students really know more about sex. Going through seven grueling rounds of sex questions, only one team can earn the title of Sex Squares champions.
With the closing of Russell Hall last year, RHA was left one team short of the usual eight teams to participate. In order to have eight teams compete, RHA turned to the Student Cooperative Council (SCC) to put together of team of their best "sex-perts."
Each round is a head-to-head competition.
One team chooses a celebrity to ask the question to. The master of ceremonies then asks the celebrity a sex related question. The celebrity then answers the question.
Once the celebrity has stated their answer, the teams must then decide whether the celebrity is right or wrong, and then agree of disagree in order to earn a square.
