LHU hosts fourth annual Turkey Trot

Students at Lock Haven University are organizing the 4th annual Turkey Trot 5k walk/run for Nov. 22, 2009. Registration will open at 9 a.m. and the race begins at 10 a.m. Participants have to pay $15 if registering before Nov. 22 and $20 on the day of the event.

Free Moroccan Night at Avenue 209

Lock Haven University International Office announces its last "Culture Through Coffee" multicultural night of the fall semester. Avenue 209 will host Moroccan Night on Monday, November 23 from 6-9 pm. Moroccan night is the fourth multicultural event at the coffee shop.

What's the Deal with Book Buyback?

As the semester comes closer to an end, the LHU bookstore encourages students to compare prices before selling their books. Books are expensive and, in many cases, students struggle to buy them. But once the books are bought and the semester is over, what can students do with hundreds of dollars worth of books? The LHU bookstore will buy back any textbook that has a national wholesale value or is being used the following semester as long as it is in usable condition, says Jim Kownacki, bookstore manager.

S.C.C. Clarification

In a prior post, we reported the S.C.C. meeting would discuss allegations of "embezzlement". These were allegations made by students on campus; the EE staff was in no way charging or passing judgment on the S.C.C. or its advisors. We are merely stating both sides of the issue in the press release.

Ralphie May packs Price Auditorium

Comedy Central phenomenon Ralphie May preformed in front of a packed Price Auditorium last night in an event hosted by the Haven Activities Council. The crowd, filled with anticipation, roared as May took the stage in a plus-sized LHU sweatshirt. He opened with jokes about driving through Beech Creek, hotels and houses, the Amish and the area in general.

LHU gets new wrestling coach

With science or with superstition, it has been found that, most of the time, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Such is the case as Lock Haven University officially announced Robbie Waller as head coach of the Bald Eagle wrestling team Tuesday. Following the retirement of long-time wrestling coach, Anthony "Rocky" Bonomo, Waller brings new life to the Lock Haven wrestling program and a lineage of success.
