Matt Connor, a 1977 graduate of Lock Haven University and author of "The Watering Hole," visited nearly 100 Honors students on March 10 in the Hamblin Hall of Flags. Connor's presentation was titled "Image versus reality on the subject of homosexuality," although he also spoke about various other topics.
LHU's chapter of the Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties held its 18th annual Legislator's Day on March 19 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in PUB with a small luncheon in the multipurpose room, followed by an open forum discussion in room 2.
The members of Distinguished Gentlemen are inviting campus clubs and organizations to take part in designing an academic calendar meant to promote university involvement and to foster campus unity. Each organization interested in participating will pick their preferred month, depending on availability.
Students filled Price Auditorium on March 19 for the popular "Sex Signals" lecture. Combining laughter with reality, the 90-minute performance presented students with a combination of improv comedy and education while also encouraging audience participation.
The MountainServe Center for Global Citizenship will hold "Sleep Out 4 Literacy" to raise awareness for this growing problem. The center has put on events like these before, but this is the first time that they will focus on the issue of literacy. MountainServe has held events for both hunger and the homeless in past years.
Residence halls will close at 10 a.m. on May 2 this year, and students will load up all their possessions and head home for the summer. Those who don't have housing lined up for next year only have about a month to get their living situations settled before they leave Lock Haven.
After 30 years of selfless contributions to Lock Haven University, Denny Strouse was recognized by sorority sisters, cheerleaders as well as faculty and friends on Friday during a pot lock dinner. Strouse has been a cheerleading adviser as well as a 25-year honorary sweetheart to the Alpha Sigma Tau sorority.
