Sitting in your respective high school auditorium, or wherever your school happened to hold its graduation ceremony, the words, "get ready for the best four years of your life" were probably uttered at some point.
For those of you who had intentions of pursuing post-secondary education, you were probably excited.

As a new class of St. John's freshmen arrives on campus and another academic year begins, a word I've thought a lot about this week is "change."
Say it out loud ten or twelve times and it begins to sound foreign and meaningless. Try to come up with a solid definition and it is more challenging than you may think.

With a massive freshmen class of roughly 1,050 overtaking The college at Brockport campus, The Stylus feels the need to reiterate safety musts. After all, partying in college is a lot different than in high school. And, since underage drinking is as real as the empty beer containers lying on the street, it's an issue we must discuss.

As the new campus talk editor, a lot of things came to mind when I thought about writing my first column. Maybe I would write about things going on around campus - for example, how great Glow Fest was, or about how hot it is or even about all the on-campus construction.

According to Hertz, city limits don't stand a chance against their car rental program that has taken root on campus. The car rental company promises the money you'll save with Connect will make the rental well worth your while. With hourly rental rates starting at $8.

Remember "Pete-on-a-Stick?"
No, most of you probably don't. But it harkens back to a time when YSU fans stood for something. Tragically, Pete-on-a-Stick was taken away when police likened him to having an umbrella
in the stands and ejected the fans who were holding him.

The purpose of a college education is to prepare you for the workforce.

The right to a free press is the oldest Jonas brother of the Bill of Rights. It's not as dreamy as the right to bear arms or as funny as the right to a public trial. We forget that it has just as much talent. Objectivity in a newsroom, while never perfect, is essential to the democratic exchange of ideas.

I get a lot of surprised looks when I tell people what I'm learning these days. I suppose it is out of the norm. I don't quite understand why- it's a very basic sefer that is sourced quite often and vital to the religious practice of Jews today.
I had a daily skype-chavruta with a fellow student through June and July learning Igrot Moshe.

As a representation of GW, GW Today's feed on Twitter is often overly personal, unprofessional and generally irreverent. Is this the kind of presence we want coming from an official GW feed?

Welcome to or welcome back to Bethlehem, Pa., also known as Deathlehem, also known as Sketchlehem. Did you know why the city we call home for nine months of the year has earned this title? Crime at Lehigh is a major issue, and the best way for Lehigh students to protect themselves is through awareness of what is going on and off campus and what to do so you don't end up the anonymous victim in the safety bulletin.

With the passing of Initiative 59 this spring, medical marijuana became legal in the District. But GW administrators have banned the use or possession of medical marijuana on campus.

A few months ago, one of my high school professors was giving her students a heads up on what to expect during our college experience. She claimed that whether we were attending our community college, or going miles away to a school where we wouldn't know anyone on the first day, we'd all find that college is essentially "like high school squared.

At Stevens, bagels are not just another breakfast item. They are their own food group. No other food is as inexpensive, portable, and versatile. Bagels can be spotted in the hands of hungry students at any time of the day or night. Most Stevens students thrive on the offerings of Bagels on the Hudson, since they are indoctrinated to it during orientation.

One hundred and fifty six years ago John Miller Dickey established an institution that sought to enlighten young Black men and prepare them for missionary work.
Dickey so selflessly used his time, energy, and money to enhance the quality of life for the students he welcomed on these grounds, the very same grounds we now call Lincoln University.

Throughout the past two years of college Jamie has been nothing short of a great friend to us as well as the Lafayette community as a whole. Not a day goes by in which we have not thought about him and we doubt there ever will be, and are sure that this is the same for anyone that knew him.

Barack Obama's declaration that the Iraq War is now "over" reminds me of how poorly-defined matters of war have become for the United States. This country's standing military maintains more than seven hundred bases in more than one hundred and twenty countries around the world.

It's a reasonable assumption that everyone probably knows someone who has a fake ID. Whether you know a friend of a friend that has one or you have one stashed in your wallet behind your bank card, fake IDs are a valuable find.
They get you into places you wouldn't normally be allowed.

Welcome back students, faculty, administration and maintenance. It's bound to be another fun and exciting year at Slippery Rock. Now, as you walk about campus muttering to yourself about how you must have the world's most god-awful professor and how you hate that man even though you two just formally met, I want you to ask yourself something: "Would you stab him?"
Not just stab with a pencil or poke with a pin- I am talking about full-blown prison mauling for no reason other than he's one of "them.
