The CHIMES, Morrisville State College, NY

3 days ago by Silke Mahardy, '13 | Staff Reporter

Until very recently, natural gas deposits embedded deep underground were impossible to extract. Westboro Church not welcome

		Westboro Church not welcome

The Triangle, Drexel University, PA

The Westboro Baptist Church. By name alone, it sounds unassuming and inoffensive; after all, there are copious varieties of religious affiliations and organizations that co-exist in this world, and in large part, they co-exist peacefully. But what about an independent Baptist church that is more known for its hateful messages and incessant protesting than for any kind of actual religious doctrine? An organization whose Web site is called "God Hates Fags?" When an organization with such an indistinct, inoffensive name is discovered to have such horrifically cruel intent, it becomes impossible for concerned citizens to let the WBC continue on in its homophobic mission without making their intolerance widely known.

Our University has been without a permanent president for almost a year since the passing of Constantine "Taki" Papadakis in April 2009. You wake up in the morning. What do you do? Go take a shower? Yeah, do that. Then put on some clothes, the kids will be home soon. Maybe, in the meantime, you can finish working on that drawing for work. Or watch some T.V. Or just go out back and lie down in the sun. Oh, the kids are home! The wife wants you to help. Its your son's birthday after all. So you set the plates, then go outside to play with the kids. How do you play with them? Give them a ride on your shoulders? Play sword fight? Either way, life is good.

Little do you know, that life is about to end.
